This policy sets out guidelines for those caring for students either directly or indirectly in the school setting and fulfills responsibilities for Child Protection. This policy is also linked with the Catholic Schools Office Armidale Child Protection Policy.
Sacred Heart School is committed to making every effort to protect students from any form of harm.
We are required to provide a ‘safe and supportive’ environment for staff, students and visitors alike. The requirement to create ‘safe and supportive school environments’ relates not only to child protection but overlaps with Pastoral Care, Restorative Practices, Work, Health & Safety, Anti-Harassment and Anti-Bullying policy development and implementation in schools.
Sacred Heart School will ensure that appropriate programs which will inform students of their rights regarding child protection, assists them to seek help effectively and teaches them appropriate child protection behaviours, are provided within the curriculum.
All visitors and volunteers are required to sign in and wear a badge whilst in the school grounds and volunteers must have a Working With Children Check before helping with activities at our school.
