Sacred Heart Primary Boggabri

K-1

Welcome to Infants Classroom

Mrs Sharon John and Mrs Rosie Sims are sharing the K/1/ class. Sharon will be working on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with Rosie working on Thursday as she is covering for Sharon’s Religious Education Coordinator’s release.

Homework

Homework is sent home on Monday afternoon (along with children’s home readers) and will be collected every Monday morning. The weekly spelling tests will take place every Friday. Homework folder will include a homework book, a reader, sight words and a literacy/numeracy activity.

Readers

With home readers please try and hear your child read every night, as it is an important part of their overall language development.

Workbooks

Students should take pride in their work, so all workbooks should be covered. When covering your child’s books in decorative paper please also use a plastic book cover or contact to give it a longer life. The covering and labelling of your child’s books makes it easier when handing out and collecting in class.

School Supplies

Pencil tins, rulers, pastel crayons, coloured pencils, a glue stick and a lead pencil will be provided for all K-2 children.  We ask that you replace these when they become empty. A note will be sent out when your child requires equipment.

Students will be required to bring in a paint shirt (labelled with their name on it) to avoid paint on school clothing. It would also be appreciated if every child could bring in a box of tissues for the class to share.

Library Bags

All Kindergarten students will be provided with a gorgeous library bag and complimentary book from the Narrabri Lioness Club. Year 1 and 2 children will need to provide their own library bag which they should have received when they were in Kindergarten. Library occurs each week on Fridays.

P.E. / Sport

Health Hustle is held every Monday-Thursday morning and Sport on Friday afternoon. Students are required to wear their sports uniform on these days.

Hats

Help your child stay safe in the sun by ensuring they have their school hat everyday and by wearing sunscreen.

No hat equals no play.

Please label all your child’s uniform, hat, lunch box, bag etc clearly with their name to help minimise lost property and encourage them to put all of their things back in their bag when they have finished eating or take clothing off.

News

Children will have a set day of the week to stand up and speak in front of their peers. This is called news. Each week the news will correspond to the sound of the week we will be learning.  They get to answer three questions from their classmates.

Days to remember:

Monday  Homework handed in and out
Tuesday  Banking
Wednesday  Mass
Thursday  Mrs Sims teaching K-1
Friday  Sports Day, Library & Canteen

Children will need to bring their piece of fruit each day for fruit break.

Please have this peeled, cut up, etc… as your child prefers as teachers do not have time to do this for each child.
